SAT prep should meet you
where you are.
For over a decade, I've watched smart, capable students get stuck in classroom test prep that wasn't built for how they actually learn. Boston Test Prep is what I built instead — personalized SAT coaching that meets each student where they are, regardless of starting score, background, or pace.
The big test prep model wasn't built for every student.
I'd see students come to me after weeks of a brand-name test prep class with their score barely budged. They'd done all the homework. They'd shown up. And they were more frustrated than when they started.
The issue isn't the students. It's the model — 30 kids, a rotating tutor, and a curriculum built for the average. No student is the average. Each one has specific weak spots, a specific timeline, and a specific way of understanding things. A class of 30 can't see any of that.
So I built something different. Most of my work is 1:1, where I can shape the plan around exactly who's in front of me. I also run small-group programs for students who want a more affordable on-ramp without losing the personal piece. Either way: a real teacher, real strategy, real attention.
That's the whole method.

Four principles. Every session.
It's a strategy thing, not a smarts thing.
The kids I work with aren't lacking intelligence — they're lacking strategy. The SAT rewards specific, learnable patterns. Once you see the patterns, the test becomes the same test, every time.
You get me. Every session.
No rotating tutors. No subcontracting. Whether we're working 1:1 or in one of my small-group programs, every session is led by me personally — and you have my number throughout the engagement.
Less homework, better homework.
I'd rather your kid do 45 focused minutes that hit the exact weak spot than 4 hours of generic practice they're guessing through. Quality of practice beats quantity, every time.
Test day shouldn't feel new.
By the time your kid sits for the actual SAT, the timer, the format, and the pacing should already feel familiar. We practice under real conditions every week — full-length, full-time — so test day is just one more repetition, not a leap into the unknown.
"We tried several other test prep tutors — Ricardo was the only one to find what my daughter was missing. He helped her get to the root of her math issues and provided her with several different methods to learn what she was lacking. He is for sure the best!"
Strategy lessons in 60 seconds.
A taste of how I break down the trickiest SAT question types — the same patterns I teach in my 1-on-1 sessions, condensed for TikTok.

Beyond the SAT.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me practicing martial arts, cooking, listening to or making music, or watching a movie I have no business loving as much as I do. Home is Boston, where I live with my wife. I read constantly about new teaching methods and learning strategies — every student I meet teaches me something new about how learning actually happens.
A meaningful part of my work with teens is about behavior change. SAT scores don't just come from learning content — they come from habits, study skills, and the kind of consistency that lasts well beyond test day. The students I work with leave with both: a higher score, and the systems to keep growing on their own.
