The SAT is a game.
We'll teach your kid to win it.
Private SAT coaching with a licensed Massachusetts teacher who has helped 200+ students get their top scores. No generic curriculum. No 30 hours of homework a week. Just the parts of the test that move your kid's score — taught in a way that makes sense to them.
Your kid is smart. But the SAT has them struggling.
When it comes to studying for the SAT, most students struggle to create structure and navigate the process on their own. You've likely bought an SAT review book that now sits under a pile of laundry, or watched your child stitch together random resources from TikTok and YouTube. Maybe you've tried the group class where your kid was one of twenty — and got attention meant for none.
Maybe they're doing fine in school — honors, even — but the SAT feels different. The questions are surprisingly tricky. The timing is brutal. Students often walk out feeling confident, not realizing the SAT is built with trap answer choices that feel right but aren't. The score comes back, your child is surprised, and nobody explains what it actually means for the colleges they care about.
The SAT isn't a measure of how smart your kid is. It's a measure of how well they've been taught the SAT. And most kids have never been taught the SAT at all.
That's the part we fix.
Hi, I'm Ricardo. I've got your kid's back.
I'm a licensed Massachusetts teacher with 12+ years in Boston classrooms and a Boston University Ed.M. I started Boston Test Prep because I knew students needed a more personalized approach than what was being offered.
I teach the SAT the way I wish someone had taught it to me: one kid at a time, with real strategy for the exact question types that trip them up, and zero shame about the parts that are hard. Kids leave my sessions knowing why an answer is right — not just that it is.
A six-step method, built around your kid — not a curriculum.
No generic plan. No wasted hours on stuff they already know. Every session is calibrated to where they are this week.
Full-length practice test & error analysis
Before we book a single session, your kid takes a real, timed SAT. We analyze every missed question to find the pattern — not just the topic.
Personalized roadmap & score target
A week-by-week plan built around your kid's target colleges, test date, and the 3–4 question types that will actually move their score.
1-on-1 sessions, 60 minutes each
In-person in Boston or on Zoom. Your kid does the work; I make the plan and teach specific areas of weakness, fix habits, and build confidence on the most missed question types first.
Between-session practice that actually matters
Targeted problem sets based on weak content areas — not random test prep filler. Usually 30–45 min a few times a week.
Timed full-lengths & score tracking
Every 2 weeks your kid takes a timed practice SAT. We track the score, review the new mistakes, and update the plan.
Test-day readiness & nerves plan
The week of the test we shift to pacing, calm, and a specific strategy for the first 10 minutes. Kids walk in knowing exactly what they're going to do.
Real numbers. Real families.
Ricardo has a formula that results in predictable outcomes. My daughter increased her scores by about 300 points on the practice tests in only a couple months — exactly what Ricardo predicted from the start. She called working with him "hitting the jackpot." I never saw her apply herself the way she did with Ricardo.
After just the first session, he gave me a detailed breakdown of my SAT score, identified the areas I needed to improve, shared targeted question banks, and created a daily study schedule. By consistently using his resources every day for just nine days, my score increased by 200 points.
We tried several other test prep tutors — Ricardo was the only one to find what my daughter was missing. He helped her get to the root of her math issues and provided her with several different methods to learn what she was lacking. He is for sure the best!
Ricardo is the best SAT tutor! He stayed patient with me when I struggled to understand topics and found new ways to teach me based on my learning style. His ability to adapt to my needs helped me both in my understanding and confidence. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing math or SAT help!
